Flight routes to Iskandar Airport in Pangkalan Bun from Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali, plus tips for timing your klotok tour.
Pangkalan Bun is the closest town to Tanjung Puting National Park. It is served by Iskandar Airport (code PKN), which connects to several major cities on Java. Here is an overview of the routes travellers use most.
From Jakarta
Direct flights from Soekarno-Hatta Airport (CGK) to Pangkalan Bun take around 1 hour 20 minutes. There are usually daily departures, including morning flights that let you start your tour the same day.
From Surabaya
From Juanda Airport (SUB), direct flights to Pangkalan Bun take around 1 hour 10 minutes. Surabaya is also a popular transit point for travellers coming from Bali or eastern Indonesia.
From Bali
There are currently no direct flights from Bali to Pangkalan Bun. The most practical option is to fly to Surabaya or Jakarta and connect to Pangkalan Bun. Allow at least two hours for the connection, or spend a night in the transit city for a more relaxed journey.
From the airport to Kumai
Kumai harbour, where klotok tours depart, is about 30 minutes by road from Iskandar Airport. All Baliboo packages include airport transfers, so just look for our guide holding a name sign at arrivals.
