Three days on the Sekonyer River, three orangutan feeding stations and two nights sleeping on deck beneath a sky full of fireflies.
Route: Pangkalan Bun - Kumai - Tanjung Harapan - Pondok Tanggui - Camp Leakey
Our most-loved trip for first-time visitors. We pick you up at Iskandar Airport in Pangkalan Bun and you board the klotok at Kumai harbour straight away. For three days the boat is your floating home: a place to eat, relax, watch proboscis monkeys along the banks and sleep under a mosquito net. The route visits all three orangutan feeding stations, Tanjung Harapan, Pondok Tanggui and the legendary Camp Leakey. On the final morning you plant a seedling at the restoration site, a small part of the long journey to bring the forest back.
The plan may adapt to river conditions, weather and wildlife behaviour.
Pickup at Iskandar Airport in Pangkalan Bun and a 30-minute drive to Kumai harbour. Board the klotok, meet the crew and enjoy lunch as you cruise into the Sekonyer River. Around 3 PM, watch the orangutan feeding at Tanjung Harapan. Look for proboscis monkeys along the banks at dusk, then spend the night on board.
Breakfast on the river, then head to Pondok Tanggui for the morning feeding around 9 AM. At midday the klotok turns into the Sekonyer Kanan, whose water is black and clear like tea. Visit the Camp Leakey information centre, watch the feeding around 2 PM and enjoy the fireflies after dinner.
In the morning, plant a seedling at the restoration site before sailing back to Kumai. After lunch on board, we drive you to Iskandar Airport in time for your flight.

Absolutely. Most of the time is spent on the boat, and the walks to the feeding stations take about 15 to 30 minutes on fairly flat trails.
On the upper deck of the klotok with a mattress, pillow, blanket and mosquito net. The boat has a simple toilet and shower.
There is usually signal around Kumai and Tanjung Harapan, but it disappears along most of the Sekonyer Kanan. Think of it as a welcome screen break.
